My personal projects bring me joy.

They allow me to be creative and to collaborate with people I’ve always wanted to work with. They also allow me to try new things, experiment, and express myself.

“Ring In The Season” from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure

One week before Christmas, I called my friends Monique and Owen to ask them if they would be willing to learn and film a song with me by Christmas day. I wanted to do something that would get us into the Christmas spirit, especially after a long year of the pandemic. This is what we came up with!

“Freedom” from The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown

Emma Ferrante reached out to me to sing this duet with her for our vocal studio class at Queen’s University. We had a blast playing with the lyrics and harmonies. We definitely learned that practicing together over zoom is just as difficult as one might think. Regardless, I’m very happy with how this turned out.

Music and lyrics: Kerrigan-Lowdermilk

Performers: Emma Ferrante & Jessica Rosales

Accompaniment: Christopher Cennon

Original Work

Luziana (a short story)

Written, Composed & Arranged by Jessica Rosales

Luziana is about a girl who is faced with fear and grief. It is a story about finding hope in loss.

When writing Luziana, I wasn’t originally planning on expanding on it. It started as a short project for a music theatre writing class with Dean Burry in 2021. It wasn’t until a friend presented me with the opportunity to submit my work to Queen’s University DAN Exposition Series which would allow my project to be further developed and staged.

We managed to perform 6 runs of the show within the production in March 2022. I’m very grateful that I submitted my piece, that I kept writing it and that I performed as Luziana with a great cast.

Director: Serena Ferzli

Music Director: Sarah Corbett

Performers: Jessica Rosales as Luziana, Kyra Mevis as Mom, Kate Delaney as Sonny

Band: Ana Solano & Mengxi Liu on violin, Sarah Corbett & Taylor Pontet-DaSilva on flute, Audra Crago on bass guitar, Matthew Shepperdson on keyboard

Luziana discovers that there has been an incident downtown where her mom and younger sibling were spending the afternoon. Not having heard from them, she leaves a message on their voicemails through song in, “Maybe You’ll Never Hear This.”

Eventually her younger sibling, Sonny, appears and begins to sing “Can’t Get Rid of Me.” In this song Sonny and their mom try to comfort Luziana even though they are not physically present.
